Z COMMON GROUND is an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary exhibition project that intends to explore topics such as cooperation, community and participation through artistic, discursive and participatory means.
A former commercial building in the Zschokkestraße 36 in Munich Laim with 4000qm surface does not only serve as the location of the exhibition, but also as the artistic material. Approximately 60 artists from different disciplines, including sculpture, painting, graffiti and street art, video and performance art, installation, dance, theater, music and architecture, are invited to work together on the site for three months to explore the above topics.
The work The Machine to be Another, for instance, combines VR technology with physical actions to create the impression of being in another person’s body. In this experimental
setup, two people synchronously perform movements and touches, which will give
them the feeling of being stuck in the body of the person opposite: a body, maybe,
of a different sex, skin color or with physical limitations. Subjective experiences are thus “embodied”, they can be communicated and expanded.
An Artistic Field for Experimentation, Cooperation, Community and Participation.
